Student Activities
Traditions That Shape Character

Business Day — Charity Sale
The school regularly organizes charity sales, giving students firsthand experience in business operations and management. Students design the stalls, price the goods and run the tills themselves; proceeds are donated to the Red Cross Rescue Center to assist children with medical needs.
A recent edition took the market out of the school and into Hong Kong Plaza in central Shanghai, where students ran a public welfare craft market alongside live performances.

Sports Day
Grouped by class, students compete in track and field, standing long jump, shot put, rope skipping and many other events. Through competition they experience the joy of sport, unlock their potential, and surpass their personal limits.

Art Festival
Students showcase their individual strengths in group and solo performances under teacher guidance. They self-direct and stage skits, dances, band performances, vocal pieces and poetry recitations — vibrant stage effects and bright smiles painting a vivid picture of youthful spirit.

Coming-of-Age Ceremony
Every March, the school holds a grand coming-of-age ceremony for its Grade 12 students, celebrating their official transition into adulthood and encouraging them to embrace social responsibility. The ceremony includes a formal pledge of adulthood, with parents and teachers gathering to witness the occasion and offer their best wishes.

Basketball Tournament
The school holds two basketball tournaments each year, with every class fielding a team. On the court students compete with determination and close collaboration — building fitness, strengthening class cohesion, and showcasing youthful vitality and team spirit.

Student Concert
The recital hall hosts an annual student concert, staged end to end by the music program: solo and ensemble pieces, student bands, and a student crew running sound and lights. Every music student takes the stage before an audience of families, turning months of practice into a live performance.

Study Trips & Outdoor Education
Each autumn the incoming cohort spends a week away on an outdoor-education camp — kayaking, high ropes, orienteering, hiking and a campfire night, alongside structured team-building workshops. Subject-based field trips and cultural visits continue through the school year.
Student Organizations
Clubs Run by Students, for Students
More than a dozen student clubs cover sports, music, dance, art & design, academics and public welfare. At Boya, each club is independently operated by its students — from initiation and formation to personnel management and activity organization. The school provides ample space and support, so that students develop essential qualities and key competencies through practice.

Facilities
Built for Practice
Art and music students work in facilities that are open to them every day: 40 professional piano rooms, an in-house recording studio, digital production labs, band rehearsal rooms, and art studios for fashion, ceramics, printmaking and digital media.

School Teams
Competing with Purpose
We help students explore their potential and cultivate lasting sports hobbies through a diversified range of course options. Boya fields school teams in football, basketball and track & field — fostering teamwork, leadership and perseverance through the unique competitive nature of sport.
